Quick Recap: The Chattanooga Mocs opened with 292 and closed 19 shots better with 273 for a 36-hole total of 565 at the Bentwater Intercollegiate. That puts the group in fourth place at 3 under at the Miller Course at Bentwater Yacht and Country Club. Ethan Whitaker (-4, 138) and Braedon Wear (-3, 139) are in the top 10 heading into Tuesday's final 18.

What to Know
  • The 19 shot or better improvement is the best since 20 going from 295 to 275 at the 2017 Palmetto Intercollegiate. The record of 25 was first set at the 1979 Mid-South Classic (393-368) and matched 24 years later at the 2003 Belmont Invitational (310-285).
  • 272 is the lowest score by total and vs par (-12) on the season. The previous low total was 280 (E) in the opening round of the Qubein Cup which led to a win. 12 under is five better than 7 under over the second 18 at the Steelwood Collegiate.
  • Cohl's 66 ties for low total with Braidech's opening round leading to his win at the Qubein Cup. 5 under is a new low.
  • The three cards in the 60s in round two are one-third the total of nine the squad had coming into the event on the year.
  • Two eagles and 18 birdies in round two and two eagles and 28 birdies total on the day.
  • Chattanooga is 10 shots off the pace set by Sam Houston which shot 278-277 for 555. Central Arkansas is second at 7 under followed by Abilene Christian (-5) and the Mocs.
  • Preston Cooper of Abilene Christian holds a 1-stroke lead heading into the final 18. Whitaker headlines a trio in second while Wear and six others are tied for fifth at 3 under.
  • Tuesday's final round has the Mocs starting on holes 4-7 in a shotgun start at 9 a.m., Eastern time, weather permitting.
