Women’s Tennis Hosts NAIA Nationally Ranked Tennessee Wesleyan; Opens SoCon Play at Mercer This Weekend

The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team hosts in-state and NAIA nationally ranked opponent Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday before opening league play on Sunday at Mercer.

CHATTANOOGA (March 13, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team returns to action for a non-conference home tilt against Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday before opening Southern Conference play at Mercer in Macon, Ga., on Sunday.
 
Friday's home match against TWU is set for 2 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Center (dependent on weather). Sunday's SoCon opener is set for 11 a.m. in Macon, Ga., at the LeRoy Paddy Tennis Center. Live video/results will be available for Friday's home match while Sunday's opener will feature live results with all links available below.

Chattanooga faces Tennessee Wesleyan in the first of its final two non-conference matches of the season with the finale set for March 25 at home against St. Thomas (MN). The Mocs have won six of the last seven matches including a 5-2 victory at Bellarmine on Sunday in the team's most recent match.

NAIA-member Tennessee Wesleyan enters the match ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll and is riding a current seven-match win streak. The Bulldogs finished seventh at the ITA NAIA Women's Team Indoor Championships in early February which included a ranked win over No. 18 William Woods (MO).
 
Scouting Mercer
Mercer enters the weekend looking to snap a two-match skid which included a SoCon-opening loss at nationally ranked ETSU (L, 0-7) last Monday in Johnson City. The Bears had previously won three of its previous four matches before the consecutive defeats, coming away with wins over Army, Queens (NC) and Georgia State.
