Noah Castillo centers the SoCon 157 podium.
Quick Recap
The Chattanooga Mocs took fourth place in a hotly contested Southern Conference Championships at Kimmel Arena in Asheville, N.C. The Mocs claimed two titles with
Noah Castillo (157) and
Sergio Desiante (174) both winning their first such titles.
Blake Boarman also qualified for the NCAA Championships winning the true second-place match at 133.
Â
Chattanooga came to Asheville with just one wrestler in the lineup with more than two SoCon Tournament appearances (Castillo) and the young group made it interesting before settling behind champion Appalachian State, runner The Citadel and Campbell.
Â
First Take
"I think we wrestled hard with a lot of contested matches. I think we only gave up a couple of bonus points and got a bunch along the way. So, not disappointed in our guys, we just need to continue to grow and continue to get better. We have a lot of young guys that if we do the right things over the summer, we can make some noise clearly." –
Coach Kyle Ruschell the weekend in Asheville

"It's very important. The fact that all three of us did not have an easy road and had to fight adversity. Which is what you're gonna have to do at the NCAA tournament, so it's very exciting to send us three because I truly believe we all could be at the on that podium." –
