Braedon Wear, Garrett Engle and the Chattanooga Mocs are on the west coast this week competing on the Golf Channel at the Western Intercollegiate.

First Look: The Chattanooga Mocs are back on the tee Monday at the 78th Western Intercollegiate. The 6-man group tackles historic Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Clara, Calif., in an event broadcast on Golf Channel.

Six men? Yes, this is a different format. Six players compete with the top five scores counting each day. Each team plays in 2-man groups alongside a competing team with each individual score counting on its own per usual. For round one, Garrett Engle and Braedon Wear are matched up as well as Carson Johnson and Camden Braidech in the middle with Ethan Whitaker and Dalton Chuba leading off.

What to Know

This is the team's 2nd trip to the Western Intercollegiate. The squad finished 9th a year ago behind a top 10 from Garrett Engle (T9).
Pasatiempo, opened in 1929, is the favorite layout of famed golf course designer Alister MacKenzie. Among his top designs...Augusta National.
The tournament plays off that lineage with a coveted Blue Jacket provided to the individual medalist in the event.
Mocs are paired in the first round with Pepperdine. The Waves current assistant coach is the Mocs own Nick Robinson who aided Blaine Woodruff in his first two seasons. Where did Woodruff work prior to taking the Mocs reins? His last job prior to head coach at Chattanooga was assistant coach at … Pepperdine.
3rd season under Woodruff, 35th event. Nine team wins and nine medalists (in 7 events) over that stretch.
Three winning sweeps this season: Qubein Cup (Camden Braidech), Bentwater Intercollegiate (Ethan Whitaker/Braedon Wear) & Ross Collegiate (Braidech/Garrett Engle).
Program has never had four sweeps in a season. Last time with three was behind three Jonathan Hodge wins in 2007-08.
5th season with three or more team wins: 2006-07 (3), 2007-08 (4), 2008-09 (3) & 2022-23 (4).
