Women’s Tennis Travels to ETSU, Hosts No. 39 Furman on Sunday (Time Change)

The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team battles the league’s top two teams this weekend.

CHATTANOOGA (April 4, 2025) – The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team will be back in action for more Southern Conference matchups as the Mocs travel to face in-state rival ETSU on the road Saturday before returning home to host nationally ranked No. 39 Furman on Sunday. 
 
Saturday's matchup against ETSU will be held at 12 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn. at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. Sunday's home action against Furman is slated for an early 9 a.m. kickoff at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn., due to predicted weather.

Scouting Chattanooga 

Chattanooga posted a 4-3 win over UNCG in its SoCon home opener last Friday before dropping a 5-2 decision to Western Carolina on Tuesday after the match was postponed from Sunday due to weather. The Mocs are 10-8 overall and 1-3 in SoCon play after opening their league slate with road losses to Mercer and Wofford.  
 
Scouting ETSU 

ETSU improved to 10-7 overall and 4-0 in the league following their 7-0 win over UNCG on Thursday, which saw them move to the top of the SoCon table. After three-straight losses to nationally ranked opponents Charlotte, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic, the Buccaneers earned two SoCon road wins, 4-3 over Wofford and 6-1 on Sunday against Samford. The Mocs fell 6-1 in their last meeting on March 23, 2024, and have dropped the last five matches in the series against ETSU. 
 
Scouting #39 Furman 

Furman has posted a 14-3 overall record and played to 3-0 in SoCon matchups, maintaining a spot in the ITA national rankings. The Paladins opened their conference slate with a 5-2 win over Western Carolina (February 25) and a 7-0 sweep over UNCG (February 27). Their most recent match saw them win 6-1 over Mercer on Tuesday, and Furman will travel to Samford on Saturday before Chattanooga hosts them on Sunday. The Mocs lost 7-0 in their last meeting on March 30, 2024, and have dropped the last 12 matchups with Furman, dating back to the 2015-16 season.
