First Look
It's the final non-conference weekend of the regular season for the Chattanooga Mocs. This week is a trip to Texas for the first time since 2016 for a matchup with third-ranked Tarleton State.
 
The Mocs are coming off a 63-0 win over Stetson in the home opener. It a huge win on the scoreboard as well as in a locker room that lifted the team to 1-2. The Texans enter at 4-0 after a 56-10 triumph at Central Arkansas last weekend.
 
Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., Eastern time, broadcasting on ESPN+ as well as the Mocs Sports Network on WFLI in Chattanooga, on GoMocs.com online as well as the Varsity Network app.

About the Mocs

• First time in Texas since the 41-36 shootout loss at No. 1 Sam Houston on Dec. 3, 2016 (FCS Playoffs Rd2). Prior to that? Nov. 19, 1966, a 42-7 loss at North Texas.
• 4-8 all-time in the state with the last win coming at North Texas (14-6) on Nov. 5, 1955.
• 2nd ranked opponent of season (@Tennessee Tech). Last ranked road win? 17-10 at No. 23 ETSU last October. Last top 20 road win? No. 13 Austin Peay, 24-21 playoff win on Nov. 25, 2023. 3-2 in last five ranked road games. 4-4 under Wright on the road against FCS ranked squads.
• Third road game in opening four contests. Tarleton had the same ledger to start the year. 9-4 in last 13 FCS road games.
• The Mocs have rushed for 150 or more yards in 37 of Wright's 67 games leading the Mocs. 29-8 in those contests.

 
About the Texans

• Fourth straight opponent coming off a win in their previous game.
• Three of four wins by 40+ points: 42-0 at Portland State, 59-3 vs Mississippi Valley State & 56-10 at Central Arkansas. Outlier? 30-27 double OT triumph at Army.
• Lead the nation in first downs (1st, 88), defensive TDs (1st, 3), 4th down defense (1st, .125), passes had intercepted (1st, 0), interceptions (1st, 9), red zone defense (44.4%), TO margin (+13) & TO gained (14).
• Third in scoring defense (10.0) and scoring offense (46.8).
• QB Victor Gabalis is 2nd nationally in TD passes (11) and 10th in pass efficiency (156.5). He has 11 TD involvements in four games. His favorite target in Dawson Hearne who's second in the country in TD catches (5).
