Men’s Basketball Back on National Stage, Travels to Samford for Saturday Showdown

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s basketball team returns to the nationally televised spotlight with a key conference contest against the Bulldogs.

CHATTANOOGA (January 23, 2026) --- With the national spotlight shining bright yet again, the Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team heads to Samford for a key mid-season Southern Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Ala. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. (ET) / 1 p.m. (CT) on ESPNEWS inside the Pete Hanna Center.
 
The game was originally slated for an 8 p.m. (ET) start on ESPNU before winter weather forecasts around the region forced a change in the start time.
 
Chattanooga (9-11, 3-4 SoCon) saw its three-game winning streak snapped during a tough 67-66 defeat to league-leading and rival ETSU on Wednesday night at home. Samford (9-11, 2-5 SoCon) enters the contest Saturday looking to snap a four-game skid, a streak that began on January 10 with an 88-79 loss to Chattanooga inside McKenzie Arena.

• Chattanooga (9-11, 3-4 SoCon) saw its three-game win streak snapped during a tight 67-66 loss to rival ETSU on Wednesday... game saw 15 lead changes and five ties... two lead changes in the final 10 seconds... ETSU clinched the win with a pair of free throws with 3.7 seconds left.

• Samford (9-11, 2-5 SoCon) enters Saturday's contest looking to snap a four-game skid after falling 88-78 at Wofford on Wednesday... skid started with an 88-79 loss at Chattanooga on January 10... all four games have been decided by 10 points or less.
• Samford guard Jadin Booth currently leads all of NCAA DI basketball in 3FGM per game (4.00)... ranks 2nd in total 3FGM (72)... 5th in total 3FGA (175)... 35th in 3FG% (41.1)... ranks 30th in points per game (20.2)... all categories lead the SoCon except 3FGA (2nd, TJ Johnson, VMI, 190).
