Game Breakdown
Collin Mulholland opened the game with a contested layup in the paint before Furman responded with 16-straight points over a six-minute stretch to build a sizable 16-2 lead with 12:44 left in the opening half. The Paladins forced seven early turnovers from the Mocs and stretched their advantage to 19, 29-10, at the 6:30 mark.

Chattanooga found some offense in the latter stages of the first half with Brennan Watkins and Teddy Washington Jr. both connecting from deep, in addition to tough finishes at the rim from Parker Robison and Tate Darner. Furman ultimately held a 42-23 halftime lead after leading by as many as 24 during the frame.

The Mocs came out of the halftime break with a strong effort on both sides of the floor as a lengthy 16-3 scoring run that included 11 unanswered cut the deficit to just six, 52-46, with 11:28 left in the game. UTC forced five Furman turnovers during the stretch while Washington Jr. scored eight quick points on the offensive end.

After Chattanooga trimmed it to five (55-50; 9:39), Furman scored the next five points to take back a double-digit edge, 60-50, with 7:46 remaining. Five quick points from Watkins before a Makai Richards layup brought the Mocs back within five again, 67-62, with just over 90 seconds to play.

Darner bagged a corner three with less than 15 seconds left following a missed free throw from Furman's Alex Wilkins to make it a one score game, 73-70, coming down to the game's final possessions. The Paladins' Eddrin Bronson connected on a pair of game-sealing free throws with 12 seconds left to complete the near wire-to-wire victory for the hosts, 75-70.

Postgame Quotes
Dan Earl's opening thoughts after 75-70 loss at Furman.
"Maybe they're not aware that a game is 40 minutes. It's amazing to me. All we did in the second half was compete. We certainly made some shots, made some plays, but it was competitive with a sure fight. Stating the obvious, you can't dig yourself that kind of hole and end up burning all your timeouts in the first half. The second half, we went with the guys who were going to show fight. I was proud of their efforts, but it's not fair to themselves, it's not fair to their teammates, and it's not fair to our fans, to only show that kind of fight for one half."
