Carden Named SoCon Field Athlete of the Week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga freshman Halle Carden was named the Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.

Carden broke the Chattanooga indoor track and field record for the high jump at the UAB Green & Gold Invitational last weekend. She cleared 5 feet, 7.25 inches (1.71 meters) to place second in the event, setting a new Chattanooga indoor high jump record. Her mark surpassed the previous program best of 5 feet, 6 inches, which had stood for more than two decades after being set by Anna Hutcherson in 1999 and matched by Alison Frese in 2004.

The Mocs will split this weekend to compete at the Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., and the Vanderbilt Music City Challenge in Nashville on Friday.
