Softball on the Road to Jacksonville State for Mid-Week Matchup

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs step out of tournament play to travel to Jacksonville State Wednesday evening for a mid-week matchup.

CHATTANOOGA vs. JACKSONVILLE STATE
The Mocs lead the seres with the Gamecocks 28-15 dating back to UTC's first season, 1994. Chattanooga is currently on a four-game win streak against Jax State. On the road, UTC is 10-9. The two teams will play another game later this season in Chattanooga where the Mocs hold a 17-6 advantage.

LAST TIME THEY MET
Chattanooga won 3-2 in their last meeting in Chattanooga. The Mocs took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth before JSU belted a two-run blast in the top of the sixth to draw to within a run. Taylor Long improved to 9-0 and Peja Goold picked up her second save in the win.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA (5-4)
The Mocs picked up three wins in the season-opening Trojan Classic that included a no-hitter by Taylor Long against Middle Tennessee. UTC also beat Troy and Southern. At home in the Chattanooga Classic, the Mocs beat Ohio and Bellarmine. Freshman pitcher Emery Bales leads the Mocs with a 2-1 mark, a complete game and one save. Taylor Long has a team-best 33 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched and was named the Pitcher of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. At the plate, Abi Bunt leads the Mocs with a .367 batting average on 11 hits in 30 at bats. She has four doubles and a home run to go along with a team-leading 10 RBI. Baileigh Pitts has driving in five on 10 hits that includes a triple and three doubles. She's hitting .357 at the plate. Mia Leone is third on the team with a .333 batting average. She has five RBI, two doubles and a two-run, walk off home run against Bellarmine. Chloe Lackey is second on the team with six RBI and is hitting .300.

ABOUT JACKSONVILLE STATE (6-4)
The Gamecocks have won its last three games against UAB, South Alabama and Western Michigan, respectively, and hold a 6-4 record on the season after returning from the Mardi Gras Invitational in Mobile this past weekend. Jax State has had no trouble getting the bats hot to start the 2026 season, as the team has four batters hitting over .400 at the plate so far including Kailey Martin (.424), Emma Elrod (.421), Mikayla Deville (.421) and Morgan Nowakowski (.406).
