Men’s Tennis Hosts Gardner-Webb, Travels to Georgia Southern This Weekend

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team finally opens play in 2026 with two matches this weekend including its home opener on Friday.

CHATTANOOGA (February 5, 2026) – The sun is finally shining, and the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team is finally set to open play in the 2026 spring season with a pair of non-conference matches this weekend on Friday and Sunday.
 
Chattanooga will host Gardner-Webb on Friday at 1 p.m. (ET) outside at the UTC Tennis Center on campus before traveling to Statesboro, Ga., for a Sunday dual at Georgia Southern beginning at 11 a.m. (ET). Admission is FREE for Friday's home and season opener.

About Chattanooga
Chattanooga (0-0) will finally kick off its 2026 spring slate after seeing its first six scheduled matches canceled due to extreme winter weather across the south over the past two weekends. UTC is coming off a historic 2025 season in which the team finished 15-11 overall, 4-3 in SoCon play and captured the 2025 NIT title following wins over NC Central and Saint Mary's (CA).
 
About Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb (1-1) split two matches so far during the young 2026 spring season while also seeing three matches canceled or postponed due to weather. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 5-2 road victory over Campbell before dropping a 6-1 decision on the road at Charlotte last Friday. GWU won the Big South regular season and tournament titles last season while finishing 20-5 and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
 
About Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern (1-1) has played two road matches so far in 2026 but have yet to leave its home state after opening the campaign with a 7-0 shutout win at SoCon-foe Mercer and following with a 7-0 defeat at Georgia Tech. GSU finished 18-7 last season and reached the Sun Belt title match before bowing out to nationally ranked and top-seeded Old Dominion, 4-2.
