Men’s Tennis Drops Tight 4-3 Contest to Presbyterian on Sunday

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s tennis team competed in its third-straight, one-point match that ultimately came down to the wire.

CHATTANOOGA (March 1, 2026) – In another tightly-played battle, the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team suffered a 4-3 defeat to Presbyterian College during non-conference action on a sunny Sunday afternoon outdoors at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.
 
Following the defeat, Chattanooga falls to 4-6 on the season and has now played in three-straight matches decided by a single team point. Presbyterian improved to 4-3 overall on the year after the win.
 
Match Recap
In doubles, Presbyterian created early momentum with a convincing win on court No. 1 as David Mamalat and Matija Samardzic claimed a 6-1 win over Jakub Jupa and TJ Ryerson. The Mocs No. 3 pairing of Sebastian Johnson and Kristof Kincses answered with a 7-5 win over Daksh Prasad and Eduardo Valentin before PC ultimately claimed the team point with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 from Thomas Anderson and Dario Navarro.
 
In singles, Jupa quickly tied the match at 1-1 with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 straight-set win on the top court. The Blue Hose responded with a pair of victories at No. 2 and No. 3 to help create a 3-1 lead with three matches remaining, requiring UTC to claim all three for a match victory.
 
Jaxon Lamb brought the Mocs within a point (3-2) in the team total after a huge 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 decision over Valentin on court No. 5, keeping the squad alive with two points left on the board. Ryerson tied the match 3-3 with a clutch three-set win over Navarro (7-6 (3), 2-6, 6-3) at No. 4 before PC's Gabriel Godoy clinched the match with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 comeback win at No. 6.
