Top 10s, Mutiple PRs Set at Lee Fast Break Invitational

FIVE TOP TENS, MULTIPLE PRS SET FRIDAY AT LEE FAST BREAK INVITATIONAL
 
CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- Chattanooga came away with a win, two second place finishes, a fourth and ninth on the first day of the Lee University Fast Break Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland.
 
Halle Carden took first place in the high jump, Ryleigh Simmons was second in the 200 meter dash and Norah Haney was second in the javelin throw while Maddie Wheatcroft finished fourth in the 5000 meter run and Leah Boyd Mitchell was ninth.
 
Carden cleared the 1.60 meter (5-06) height on her second try to claim first in the event. Simmons beat out her previous best by 0.02 seconds with a time of 24.56 for second in the 200 meter dash. In the women's javelin, Haney threw a distance of 119.00 feet [36.50 meters], nearly two feet further than her personal record set earlier this season.
 
In the women's 5000 meter run, Wheatcroft hung at the front of the fourth heat most of the race, finishing fourth overall with a time of 16:45.04. Teammate Boyd Mitchell placed ninth out of 64 runners across four sections.
 
In the 200 meter dash, Kolbee Webb also set a personal best with a time of 27.09. Five runners in the 1500 meter also hit personal best times while two beat out their season-high times. Maya McCloskey (4:50.98), Taylor Crawford (4:52.55), Scarlett Nash (4:54.57), Aubrey Park (4:58.00) and Olivia Steele (5:03.46) all clocked personal best times in the middle-distance race while EV McGowan and Kennedy Reynolds reached a season-best time. Haney registered a season-high height in the high jump.
 
In the men's events, Ian Etheridge ran a 4:01.14 in the 1500 meter setting a personal record as did Cash Coggin who covered the distance in a time of 4:05.13. Riley Hanson won the second section and ran a personal best time of 15:17.92 in the men's 5000 meter run. Andrew Moore, clocking in at 15:49.11, won the first section.

Carden will be the only field athlete competing, taking part in the triple jump at 10:30 a.m. Ava McGue is set to run the 400 meter dash at 12:35 p.m. Taylor Crawford, Maya McCloskey, Anna Roberson, Lauren Bayes and Norah Haney are scheduled for the 800 meter at 1:55 p.m. Ryleigh Simmons, Aalvinee Torrance and Kolbee Webb will put their feet to the test in the 100 meter dash at 2:40 p.m.
