Simmons Takes Third in 100 meter at Lee Fast Break

CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga outdoor track and field team continued picking up personal records and season-bests Saturday on the final day of the Lee University Fast Break Invitational. The Mocs women finished sixth out of 25 teams with 40 points.
 
"Great two days at Lee," Mocs head coach Steve Picucci said. "We had a lot of season and personal bests the last two days. It was great to see people break through some time barriers as well!
 
"Looking forward to another chance next weekend at Georgia Tech."
 
Sophomore sprinter Ryleigh Simmons continued her run of Top Five finishes placing third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.05. She leaned at the line in lane seven to edge Wright State's runner in the next lane.
 
Halle Carden hit a distance of 10.75 meters in her third jump to finish sixth in the triple jump Saturday morning. Ava McGue legged out a season-best in the 400 meter in a time of 1:00.53, a tenth of a second ahead of Denison's runner in the next lane.
 
Taylor Crawford led six Chattanooga runners in the 800 meter run and one of four with personal record times. She finished in a time of 2:19.67 followed by Maya McCloskey (2:23.28), Anna Roberson (2:30.05) and Norah Haney (2:33.87). Kolbee Webb posted a PR in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.13.
 
All three men posted personal best times in the 800 meter run. Ian Etheridge covered the distance in a time of 1:57.68 followed by Cash Coggin (1:58.53) and Reid Gulstrom (2:02.70).
 
Chattanooga returns to the track next weekend at Georgia Tech.
