Pitts, Cowart Earn SoCon Postseason Honors; Mocs Face Furman in SoCon Opener

Mocs host Furman in opener Wednesday, May 6 at 10 a.m.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga senior Baileigh Pitts and freshman Ava Cowart received postseason honors from the Southern Conference, the league office announced today. Pitts was named All-Conference Second Team and Cowart earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
 
Pitts leads the Mocs in hitting with a .361 batting average and is 10th in the SoCon. She leads the Mocs in home runs this season, is second for runs batted in, has a .576 slugging percentage, 27 walks, seven sac flies and three sac hits. She's 3-for-3 for steals and has a .984 fielding percentage at first.
 
Pitts had three walk offs this season including a two-run homer against Furman, an RBI triple against Southern and a two-run double in the Mocs come-back win over Georgia State.
 
Cowart made 47 starts this season, playing in 49 games, all in right field. She's batting .344 with three doubles. She's drawn 18 walks and has a .415 on-base percentage. On the base paths, she leads the team in steals making 18-of-19 attempts and is ranked fifth in the SoCon.
 
Chattanooga hosts the 2026 Southern Conference Softball Championship this week at Frost Stadium. The Mocs take on No. 8 seeded Furman Wednesday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. Follow the Mocs online at GoMocs.com.

The Mocs swept the Paladins in three games last weekend in the regular season series finale. UTC is on a four-game winning streak heading into postseason play.
