Mocs Start SoCon Play Saturday at Finley

Keyshawn Jackson and the Chattanooga Mocs take their first foray into Southern Conference play Saturday evening with a visit from the Wofford Terriers.
The Chattanooga Mocs football team begins Southern Conference action with a visit from the Wofford Terriers. Finley Stadium hosts the battle Saturday evening at 6 p.m., airing on ESPN+ and the SoCon's Nexstar package.

While it's the first SoCon matchup for the Mocs, the Terriers are currently tied for the SoCon lead at 1-0. They opened the season with a 42-14 home win over The Citadel. There's a lot going on this weekend with promotions and events.
It's the White Out game with all fans encouraged to wear white. The new class of students will participate in the Mocs Flock Finley celebration with new students taking the field through the team tunnel after Academic Night presentations after another record semester in the classroom.
It's also Scrappy's Kids Club Day and UTC's Fall Family Weekend. Add in free White Out Hats to the first 1,000 fans through the gates courtesy of this week's game sponsor, Unum. That's a grouping fit for a SoCon Opener.
Opening Thoughts
This is the eighth straight season the Mocs start the SoCon slate at home. An odd, but interesting quirk to the annual schedules. The squad is 10-2 in the last 12 starts in the SoCon standings.
Quick Look Back
The Mocs and Eastern Kentucky battled to the finish in Richmond this past Saturday. The Colonels took a 16-3 lead into halftime. Chattanooga answered quickly with a 27-yard Kevin Lalin touchdown run and 5-yard dash by Battle Alberson to flip it 17-16.
A nearly hour-long weather delay led to a second intermission. The Colonels came back with a fourth quarter go ahead drive and then thwarted the Mocs final drive to claim the 22-17 win.

- Lalin passed 2,500 rushing yards Saturday night. For context, only six Mocs have registered 2500+ in program history. He leads the SoCon with 290 yards on the season.
- Ashton Schumann topped 150 receptions and 2,000 receiving yards as well. His 59-yard catch set up Alberson's go-ahead score.
- Kicker Jude Kelley hit his 34th career Chattanooga field goal. He's not tied for fifth on the program leaderboard with Victor Ulmo '20.
