University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Randy Batten won his third consecutive NCAA Division II wrestling title. Competing at 126 pounds, Batten posted four wins in the tournament in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The Mocs scored 32 points as a team to finish in 11
th place overall.  Ralph Zigner joined Batten on the podium. He earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish at heavyweight.Â
Batten moved up from 118 to 126 and became just the second athlete in history to win a third NCAA Division II crown. He opened with a bye and followed that with a 10-3 decision over Wright State's Eugene Wright.Â
Batten next won a high-scoring affair against Eastern Illinois' Gilbert Duran (19-11). Batten defeated Augustana's Sam Herriman in the semifinals and capped off another title run with a 6-5 win over Northern Michigan's Neal Seagren.Â
Zigner scored an impressive four pins on his way to a fifth place showing.
