CHARLESTON, S.C. -? The Chattanooga women's basketball team held the College of Charleston to just 18 points in the second half to claim a 65-49 win over the Cougars Saturday afternoon at John Kresse Arena.

Nikki Williams put in a layup at 15:16 to give Charleston a 41-40 lead. It would be the last for the Cougars for the next 8:24 as the Lady Mocs scored 12 straight points to take a 52-41 lead on a pair of Alex Anderson free throws with 7:11 remaining.

Sarah Moye hit a jumper at the 6:52 mark to break the scoring drought for the Cougars. Charleston (9-9, 5-3 SoCon) pulled to within five scoring the next four points, but that was as close as it would get. Chattanooga's largest lead of the game would be the final score as the Lady Mocs built its lead, outscoring Charleston 13-2 over the final 4:47 of the game.

Anderson had a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds while Laura Hall scored 18 points, including five free throws in the last 1:23. Anderson was 9-for 23 from the floor and made 7-of-10 free throws. Hall was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe, knocking down three 3-pointers for her second best scoring output this season.

The first half saw a struggle with two ties and three lead changes. Charleston led throughout most of the opening stanza going up by as much as six points twice in the half. With the Lady Mocs down 23-19 in the first, Kristen Spann scored five straight points to put UTC up 24-23 with 2:50 to play in the first.

Anderson's jumper pushed the lead to three, but the Cougars' Williams hit a 3-pointer to tie it up with 2:00 until halftime. Chattanooga climbed back on top, but that lead slipped away as Charleston's Deidra Jones got a put back with 10 seconds remaining to tie it up at 31-31 at the break.

Charleston won the battle of the boards 44-41 and outscored UTC in the paint 28-18. However, the Lady Mocs scored 20 points off 20 Cougar turnovers and got 17 second chance points to CofC's 10.
