CULLOWHEE, N.C. ? Alex Anderson notched her fourth double-double of the season and reached 1,000 points, but it wasn't enough to hold off Western Carolina as the Chattanooga women's basketball team fell 75-66 to the Lady Catamounts at the Ramsey Center Saturday afternoon.

Anderson had 29 points and 14 rebounds but was the only Lady Moc player in double-digits on the day. She went 13-of-21 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Her layup at the 18:59 mark of the second half put her at 1,000 points for her career and she is now tied for 17th all-time at UTC with 1,104.

Chattanooga jumped out to a 5-0 lead and were up by nine at 24-15 with 9:47 to play in the first half, but the Catamounts responded with a 12-2 run to go up 28-26 at the 5:22 mark. UTC would tie it up two more times before Western Carolina took the lead for good. The Lady Cats led 40-35 at the break.

Anderson went 6-for-7 to start the second half, but Western answered going 5-for-7 with a pair of 3-pointers from Monique Dawson to maintain the five point advantage four minutes into the stanza. The Cats pushed the lead to 63-49 with 11:57 to play and would go up by as much as 16 twice in the game.

The Lady Mocs held Western Carolina scoreless over the final 6:11 of the game, but could only convert on 1-of-9 shots and sink five free throws, falling by nine. UTC went 3-for-25 from beyond the 3-point arc, its poorest performance from outside since falling to the Catamounts earlier this season.

Kristen Spann had nine points on the day and pulled down six boards while Brooke Hand, with a pair of first half 3-pointers, had eight points. Tagan Hatchett and Emily Houts each scored five points in the game and Anderson matched her season high with four blocked shots.

Chattanooga outscored Western Carolina in the paint 44-32, but the Catamounts converted 17 UTC miscues into 18 points. The Lady Mocs outrebounded WCU 47-38 and converted 16 offensive rebounds into 16 points.

Chevon Keith led four Catamounts in double figures with 16 points and six rebounds and Ashley Pellom tossed in 12 going 2-for-3 from the 3-point line. Monique Dawson had 11 points, five boards and five assists and Lauren Powell chipped in 10 points.

After shooting 46.9 percent from the floor in the first half, the Lady Mocs managed just 12-for-35 (34.3%) in the second half. Western Carolina shot 42.3 percent on the day and ran its win streak to 10 to tie its best ever streak in school history. The win moves the Lady Cats into sole possession of first place in the league standings and marks the first time that UTC was swept by a SoCon team in the regular season since Furman did it in the 2001-02 season.

The Lady Mocs will travel to Greenville, S.C., to take on the Paladins at 5 p.m. Monday night.
