BOX SCORE AND PLAY-BY-PLAY
GREENVILLE, S.C. ? Alex Anderson and Shanara Hollinquest combined for 39 points as the Lady Mocs routed Furman 87-64 in Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena.
The pair went 18-for-26 and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line in Chattanooga's 10th consecutive win of the season. Anderson scored a team-high 20 points in the game and tied Katasha Brown for fifth place on the Lady Mocs' all-time scoring charts with 1,472 points. Hollinquest scored a career-high 19 points in the win, sinking nine of her 12 attempts.
Chattanooga shot a staggering 66.7 percent from the field in the second half making 20-of-30 and were 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the period. The Lady Mocs pushed their six-point halftime lead to 19 on a 13-0 run in just the first four minutes of the stanza.
Furman cut the lead by five, but would not get any closer than 14 points the remainder of the game.
In the first half, Chattanooga jumped out to a seven point lead on a 7-0 run and would expand its lead to as much as 13 twice in the first half, but Lee Stephens would cut the lead to as close as five. She went 3-for-4 in the first half, including a pair of 3-pointers and was nearly perfect from the free throw line making 6-of-7. She ended the game with a game-high 22 points, shooting 60 percent from the floor.
Hollinquest had a game-high seven rebounds, four on the offensive boards and Brooke Hand went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc for nine points. Laura Hall and Jenaya Wade-Fray each tossed in eight points. The Lady Mocs outrebounded Furman 39-29 and scored 24 points in the paint.
The Lady Paladins shot 36.2 percent from the field. Chrissy Phelps had 12 points and five rebounds while Stephens, Sarah Baker and Katie Johnson each grabbed four boards. Johnson, who missed four games due to an injury, returned to action Saturday against the Lady Mocs.
The game will be aired in a tape-delayed broadcast Sunday, Jan. 20 at noon on CSS. The Lady Mocs will return to action with a 6 p.m. tip-off on the road Monday night at Wofford.
