SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Freshman Kori Penland scored a career-high 15 points and Erin Ogan had a double-double to lead the Lady Mocs to an 82-61 Southern Conference win over Wofford Saturday at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
The win marks the Lady Mocs' 25th straight conference win and 450th career win for Wes Moore. It is also his 250th since his arrival at Chattanooga in 1998.
The Lady Mocs jumped on Wofford early, building its lead to double digits midway through the first half. The Terriers got to within a pair at the 15:39 mark before Chattanooga went on a 10-point run, taking the lead 21-6 on a 3-pointer from Penland who had three in the game.
Chattanooga kept up the defensive effort allowing the Terriers just nine field goals in the first half for a 31 percent shooting performance.
With 7:59 to play in the first half, the Lady Mocs built up its largest lead of the half at 34-13, but went cold allowing the Terriers to go on an 8-0 run to get within 13 and Chattanooga went into the half with a 38-23 lead. In the second half, the Lady Mocs shot 63 percent from the field and built its lead to as much as 32 (69-37) with 8:32 to play in the game.
Penland went 3-for-4 from the 3-point line while Ogan had 14 points, making 6-of-12 including a pair of treys and pulled down 11 rebounds. Tenisha Townsend sparked the Lady Mocs offense with 10 points, making both of her attempts from beyond the arc. LaCondra Mason just missed a double-double with eight points and 11 boards.
The Lady Mocs outrebounded the Terriers 42-33 and shot 51.8 percent overall and 50 percent from the 3-point line. This is the third straight game in which the Lady Mocs have scored 80 or more points.
Chattanooga improves to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in SoCon action with its fourth consecutive victory of the season and Wofford falls to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in league play.
The win is Chattanooga's 25th consecutive Southern Conference win and gives Wes Moore 450 overall victories and 250 at Chattanooga.
