GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior forward Alex Anderson (Stone Mountain, Ga.) notched her eighth double-double of the season to lead Chattanooga (22-3, 14-0) to a 64-52 Southern Conference win over UNC Greensboro (5-19, 3-10) Monday night at Fleming Gym.
Anderson went 8-of-13 for a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds as Chattanooga ran its win streak to a nation-best 17 games. Senior guard Laura Hall (Oliver Springs, Tenn.) went 3-for-3 from the 3-point line and was the only other player in double figures with 15 points and five assists.
UNC Greensboro's Kemena Brooks got the scoring started with a 3-pointer to give the Spartans their only lead of the game. Sophomore Jenaya Wade-Fray (Madison, Ala.) bookended a 12-0 Chattanooga run to put the Lady Mocs up front 12-3 at the 12:16 mark of the first half.
The Spartans got a pair of 3-pointers from Lakiah Hyson and Kemena Brooks to get back to within five points and would fight their way back to get as close as four two times before Chattanooga would expand the lead to 34-22 at the break. Anderson and Hall each had 10 points at intermission.
In the second half, the Lady Mocs pushed their lead to 18 points just over three minutes into the second half and it would get as high as 23 points with 9:21 to play on a 3-pointer from junior LaCondra Mason (Chattanooga, Tenn.).
Senoir guard Brooke Hand (Moulton, Ala.) went 3-for-8 from the 3-point line for nine points and six boards while Mason chipped in eight on a near-perfect night. She went 2-for-2 from the field with a 3-pointer and was 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Shanara Hollinquest (Sylacauga, Ala.) went 2-for-2 on the night and had four free throws for eight points and five rebounds.
Hyson led UNCG with nine points and Jasmine Dixon had seven points and three rebounds. Brittany Frazier had a team-best five rebounds for the Spartans and four points while Brooks and Gini Grimsley each chipped in six points in the loss.
Chattanooga shot 46.2 percent from the field making 7-of-19 from beyond the arc. UNC Greensboro shot just 32.7 percent making 18-of-55 including five treys. Chattanooga won the battle of the boards 40-33 and scored 30 points in the paint compared to the Spartans 20.
