Despite its 13-point victory, the Mocs found themselves down at the break, 47-46, thanks to an Eagle offense that shot 51.5 percent from the field (17-of-33).
After halftime the Eagles' slim lead lasted a mere 52 seconds thanks to a Keyron Sheard three put the Mocs up 49-47.
UTC would not trail again in the game, extending its lead out to as many as 15 en route to the 100-87 victory.
Keyron Sheard set a career-high with 18 points to go with six rebounds and four assists. Nicchaeus Doaks and Ty Patterson chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively. In addition to his game-high 27 points, McDowell added five rebounds while tying career highs with four assists and three steals.
Goffney had a game-high 11 rebounds to lead the Mocs to a 40-34 advantage on the glass. Despite the fast-paced game, the Mocs had just 10 turnovers.
Antione Johnson had a strong all-around game for the Eagles with 17 points, five rebounds, eight assists and two steals. Tyler Troupe tossed in 13 points, while Julian Allen had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
