The Mocs host instate foe UT Martin Saturday, November 28 at the McKenzie Arena. The game will tip off at 6:00 p.m. (NOTE TIME CHANGE) due to a conflict with the NCAA football playoff game slated to kick off at 1 p.m. at Finley Stadium. Tickets are available at the box office for all of Chattanooga's athletics events.

When the women's game conflicts with either the men's basketball game or a football game, the women's game will ove to 98.1 FM. Chattanooga and UT Martin have met 10 times since the Mocs first season as a varsity sport in 1975. The Mocs have won nine of the 10 meetings. After winning the first eight, the Skyhawks (previously the Pacers) beat UTC 64-49 at the Bearcat Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati. Chattanooga came away with a 65-54 win last year in Martin.

Head Coach: Jim Foster (Temple, 1980) 62-10/third year
Joyner Ranked Second • Junior Jasmine Joyner has 26 blocked shots this season, averaging 4.3 per game, and is ranked second in the NCAA. The Mocs lead the Southern Conference and are 18th in the country with 6.6 per game as a team.

Hands Off • Chattanooga is ranked fourth in the nation for fewest fouls per game with 11.8 through five contests. Iowa State leads the nation committing just 11 per game. Chattanooga was ranked first last year in the category.

Joyner Tops 200 Blocked Shots • Junior Jasmine Joyner added four blocked shots at Indiana on November 17 and topped 200 rejections for her career at Chattanooga. She is just seven blocked shots shy of the school record set in 2008 by Alex Anderson (221) with 214 for her career. She moves into seventh in the SoCon. The record is 339 set by Davidson's Sophia Aleksandravicius in 2013.

Keiana Gilbert tabbed CSM SoCon Player of the Week • Sophomore Keiana Gilbert was selected the College Sports Madness Southern Conference Player of the Week for her performance on the court. She dropped in 19 points in UTC's season opener against McNeese State and had six rebounds.

Joyner Records Pair of Double-Double • Junior Jasmine Joyner recorded her 10th career double-double with 20 points and 13 points a. She against Southern Miss in the consolation bracket of the Preseason WNIT. 

Mocs 2-1 in Preseason WNIT • The Mocs went 2-1 in the Preseason WNIT for the second time. UTC opened the season with a win over McNeese State then fell at Indiana in the second round. In the consolation bracket, Chattanooga got the win over Southern Miss in overtime.

Mocs Get Overtime Win • The Mocs had to use another five minutes to get past Southern Mississippi in the consolation bracket of the Presason WNIT. It was the Mocs first OT game of the year, winning 53-48.

New Rules Highlight Start of Women's Season • This season will see new rules for women's basketball. The most obvious will be the move from two 20-minute halves to four 10-minute quarters. Another will be advancing the ball in the final minute of play. Once a basket or rebound is made, a team may call timeout before advancing the ball and  take possession at the 28-foot mark. A more extensive explanation can be found on page  six of this notes package.

Mocs Picked to Win Fourth Straight Crown • The Southern Conference coaches and media picked UTC to the league title. The Mocs, winners of three straight, have won the regular season 19 times since 1984.

Joyner Named Preseason Favorite • Junior Jasmine Joyner was selected the preseason favorite for Southern Conference Player of the Year by the league coaches. Joyner was named to the SoCon all-conference team last season and named the tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Three Named to SoCon Preseason Team • Senior Alicia Payne and  juniors Jasmine Joyner and Chelsey Shumpert were named to the SoCon preseason all-conference team by the league coaches.

Mocs Ranked 25th in AP Preseason Poll • The Mocs earned their first-ever AP Top 25 preseason ranking this year. Chattanooga climbed as high as 17th last season. After receiving votes for six weeks, the remained in the poll for the final seven weeks.


UTC Second in Mid-Major Top 25 • College Insider ranks the Mocs at second in its preseason Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Mocs ended last season at second and return five starters. Chattanooga received three first place votes for 720 points behind Florida Gulf Coast who received 22 first place votes for 735 points.

ESPNW Ranks Mocs in Preseason Top 10 • ESPNW reporters and contributer ranked the Mocs fourth in its preseason Mid-Major Top 10. UTC is behind Florida Gulf Coast, George Washington and Princeton.

Foster Gets Another First • Last season Chattanooga head coach Jim Foster became the first coach in NCAA history to have four different teams ranked in the AP Top 25. The previous season he was the first to guide four different teams to the NCAA Tournament. This season he becomes the first coach in NCAA history to have four different teams ranked in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Mocs are ranked 25th.

Mocs Make Fourth Appearance in Preseason WNIT • The Mocs opened the season with its fourth appearance in the preseason tournament. Chattanooga defeated McNeese State 68-53 to open the season and fell to Indiana in the second round, 54-43. UTC hosted UAB in the opening game in 2011 coming away with a 65-59 win. UTC went 2-1 in 2011 with wins over UAB and Indiana State and a loss to Baylor. Chattanooga fell 74-53 to the Sycamores in 2005 on Indiana State's home court and dropped a 69-52 decision at Louisiana Tech in 2000.

Four Mocs Opponents Ranked Among the Best • With UConn headlining both preseason polls, the Mocs will face some stiff competition this season. The Huskies are ranked first in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Top 25. UTC will take on UConn for the first time in school history on Nov. 30 at home. Before that, the Mocs will face off against Tennessee in Knoxville. The Lady Vols are ranked fourth in both polls. Chattanooga will travel to South Florida in mid-December to face the Bulls who are 20th in the AP Poll and 19th in the Coaches Poll. Also in the polls is Stanford. Chattanooga will travel west to take on the Cardinal on December 28. Stanford is ranked 16th by the AP and 14th by the coaches.

Southern Conference Win Streak • The Mocs have lost just one game in three years against the Southern Conference. After falling to Elon on the road in overtime in January 2013, the Mocs have won a school and Southern Conference record 48 consecutive regular season league games.

Long-Range Bombers • The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 502 consecutive games dating back to December 1999 - that's a 15-year span.

Hot at Home • Chattanooga opened the season with a win over McNeese State to extend its home-court win streak to 13 games and the Mocs have won 53 of its last 54 games in the Roundhouse. Those wins include Villanova (2014), No. 4 Tennessee (2014), No. 7 Stanford (2014), Alabama (2013), Auburn (2013), No. 20 Tennessee (2012).

Foster Fastest to 50 wins • Through 57 games, Jim Foster earned his 50th win at the UTC helm. He reached the 50-win mark at UTC faster than any other in school history.

UTC Record Against the Top 10 • Chattanooga is 2-1 against the Top 10. The Mocs defeated then-ranked No. 4 Tennessee 67-63 at the McKenzie Arena and then followed that up with a 54-46 win over then-No. 7 Stanford at the Roundhouse three weeks later last year. UTC fell 88-53 to then-ranked No. 3 Notre Dame in South Bend.

Home Openers • When opening the season at home, the Mocs are 14-4 and have won each of the last five with a win over McNeese State at home this year. In all openers the Mocs are 32-10.
Doubleheaders on the Slate • The Chattanooga men's and women's teams will take part in six doubleheaders. The first will be on the road at Furman on January 9. The next five will be at home with one more in January and the last four in February.

SoCon Tournament • The Southern Conference Tournament will be held in Asheville, N.C., March 5-8. All rounds will be played in the U.S. Cellular Center this year.

42 Seasons • UTC begins its 42nd season of play as a varsity sport and has had just five coaches in it's history. The Mocs are 796-417 over that time, averaging just over 22 wins per season.

Road Tournament • The women will travel to Wilmington, N.C., to participate in the UNCW Christmas Classic. UTC will face East Carolina the first day and follow with a matchup against the host UNC Wilmington.

Foster in it for the Long Haul • Jim Foster begins his third season season at the helm of the Mocs and is in his 38th season of coaching. Foster began his career at St. Joe's, moved on to Vanderbilt and had his latest stint at Ohio State. He starts the season as the 11th winningest coach in NCAA history (all levels) with 841 victories. He is just the 11th coach in NCAA history to reach 800 wins. He is also the ONLY coach to advance four different teams to the NCAA Tournament and have four different teams ranked in the AP Poll and Preseason Poll.

ON THE ROSTER
• Gilbert Returns to Lineup • Redshirt sophomore Aryanna Gilbert suffered a season-ending knee injury last season after the Mocs' eighth game. After a long rehab and preseason workouts, she is back in the lineup and ready to play. She was able to redshirt last season and will have three years remaining.

• Queen Alford to Make Chattanooga Debut • After sitting on the sidelines for an entire season, redshirt junior Queen Alford will make her UTC debut this season. Alford was the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year in 2013 and a two-time all-conference performer for the Dolphins. She led Jacksonville in scoring both seasons and was second in rebounding as well. In her freshman year, she had a team-best .450 3-point field goal percentage making 27-of-60.

• Ashlyn Wert in the Lineup • After taking a redshirt her freshman year, Ashlyn Wert is ready to step onto the court for her first collegiate game. At just over 6-foot-5, she is Chattanooga tallest player and will back up the center position.

• Two Freshmen in the Lineup • The Mocs added freshmen Nakeia Burks of Huntsville High School and Molly Melton of the Webb School of Knoxville.
