MOCS HOST BELMONT IN EDUCATION DAY TILT AT 11 AM
 
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will return home for its lone December game to host Belmont at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday for an Education Day Game. More than 500 area students are expected to be in attendance.

SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs, 5-4, are looking to snap a two-game skid with back-to-back losses against top-ranked UConn and No. 21 South Florida, both of the American Athletic Conference (AAC). It is Chattanooga's first two-game losing streak since falling to Minnesota and Hawai'i in the 2013 Wahine Paradise Classic in Honolulu.
 
After the pair of losses, Chattanooga bounced back with a win over Colorado State in the Classic sparking a 25-game win streak, post an undefeated SoCon season and claim the SoCon Tournament title.
 
Junior Jasmine Joyner leads the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.0). She leads the team in 3-point shooting with 11 and leads the nation in blocked shots per game with 4.8 and ranks fifth all-time in Southern Conference history. Also in double-figures for UTC is sophomore Keiana Gilbert. She has 10.8 points per game and 5.4 rpg. Senior Alicia Payne has a team-best 29 assists (3.2 per game) and 13 steals.
 
SCOUTING BELMONT
The Bruins are off to a hot start at 8-1 with its lone loss coming at the hands of Ohio State. Belmont started the season with a win over Young-Harris at home and are on a six-game win streak that includes wins against Troy, Lipscomb and Wake Forest.
 
Five players are averaging double figures led by Kylee Smith with 13.3 points per game. Darby Maggard is second with 11.4 points per game and has 5.0 rebounds an outing. Sally McCabe leads the team on the boards with 7.1 rebounds per game and has 10.7 points per game.
 
Belmont is second in the OVC in scoring with 78.8 points per game and second for rebounding with 46.3 per game. The Bruins lead the league in eight categories including scoring defense, rebounding defense and assists.
 
CHATTANOOGA vs. BELMONT
This will be the 14th meeting between Chattanooga and Belmont. The Bruins took the first meeting in overtime in Nashville and won three of the first five games. Chattanooga has gone on to win the next eight games including a 60-48 win in Nashville last year. Chattanooga is 5-1 against Belmont at home.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Joyner Leads the Nation • Junior Jasmine Joyner has 43 blocked shots this season, averaging 4.8 per game, and leads the NCAA. 

Joyner Breaks School Record • Junior Jasmine Joyner matched her McKenzie Arena record for blocked shots with seven to reach 221 for her career tying her with Alex Anderson (2003-08) for the Chattanooga record. Against UConn, Joyner's first block of the game gave her the school record. She has climbed to 231 in her third year. Last year she broke the SoCon record for blocked shots in a season with 132 and set the school single game record with eight at Notre Dame. She is fifth in the SoCon and needs four to reach fourth. The record is 339 set by Davidson's Sophia Aleksandravicius (2009-13).

Jasmine Joyner named CSM SoCon Player of the Week • Junior Jasmine Joyner averaged 17 points and 8.7 rebounds the week of Nov. 23-29 to earn College Sports Madness Player of the Week honors for the SoCon. She scored a career-high 31 points against UTM Saturday, recording her third double-double of the year with 15 rebounds and added seven blocked shots to tie the UTC career record for rejections.

Keiana Gilbert tabbed CSM SoCon Player of the Week • Sophomore Keiana Gilbert was selected the College Sports Madness Southern Conference Player of the Week for her performance on the court. She dropped in 19 points in UTC's season opener against McNeese State and had six rebounds.

Joyner Records Trio of Double-Doubles • Junior Jasmine Joyner recorded her 11th career double-double and third of the season with a career-high 31 points and 15 rebounds against UT Martin.

Career-Records Beyond the Arc • Three Mocs have career-highs from beyond the 3-point line this season. Centers Jasmine Joyner and Ansley Chilton have each dropped in three from beyond the arc while Anna Claire Noblit showed off her skills to spark a come-from-behind win for the Mocs with three against Arkansas State. Joyner, with eight on the  year, had three against Southern Miss while Chilton hit 3-of-4 against the Lady Vols.
 

TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Hands Off • Chattanooga is ranked third in the nation for fewest fouls per game with 11.7 per game. Penn leads the nation committing just 10.4 per game. Chattanooga was ranked first last year in the category.

Mocs Block Party • The Mocs lead the Southern Conference in blocked shots per game and are ranked seventh in the NCAA with 6.6 per game as a team. Oregon State has an NCAA-best 8.0 per game.

Long-Range Bombers • The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 507 consecutive games dating back to December 1999. Chattanooga reached the 500-game mark against Butler in its second home game.

Hot at Home • UTC won its first five home games this year extending its home-court win streak to 17 games before falling to UConn at the end of November. UTC has won 57 of its last 59 games in the Roundhouse. Those wins include #4 Tennessee (2014) and #7 Stanford (2014) and #20 Tennessee (2012).
