Women’s Golf Opens Season Monday in Knoxville

The Chattanooga Mocs open the 2015-16 women's golf season Monday in Knoxville at the Mercedes-Benz Championships.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team opens the season Monday at the Mercedes-Benz Championships in Knoxville. Cherokee Country Club hosts the two-day event that includes 36 holes on day one followed by a final 18 Tuesday.

According to coach Colette Murray, the Mocs are ready to get the season going.

"We're excited," Murray stated. "It's a new season, all of our goals and hopes are out there for us. This can be a very special group."

Chattanooga returns three seniors and two sophomores with two incoming freshmen. The youth-heavy squad is actually a positive for Murray.

"I like it a lot," she added. "We have a good mix of youth and experience. Sometimes that excitement of something new is just what you need in a program. I think our younger players are going to have a positive impact on our season."

The starting lineup includes seniors Emily McLennan and Sarah Dolmovich, sophomores Cris Perez and Megan Woods along with freshman Monica San Juan. Woods won a strongly-contested qualifying tour, while Dolmovich topped senior Isabella Loza and freshman Pojjana Mesombat for the fifth spot.
