The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team opens its 2016 spring dual competition at Memphis on Sunday, Jan. 17. Match time is set for 11:00 a.m. (E.S.T.)
The Mocs are looking to build on three-straight 18-win seasons, with five starters and six letter winners returning. Led by seniors
Kelsey Coots,
Kayla Jones,
Katie Polk and
Alison Storie, Chattanooga has a talented lineup that will compete for the Southern Conference Championship.
"We are excited to kick off the 2016 spring season at Memphis this weekend," stated head coach
Jeff Clark. "We have a tough opponent for sure, but we have been working hard to prepare for it and will be ready to play come Sunday."
Clark is in the ninth year of his second stint as the head coach at UTC. He guided the Mocs to a second place finish in the SoCon with a 7-1 mark last season.
Jones is making a homecoming this weekend. The two-time first team All-SoCon competitor is back at the top of the lineup after going 22-9 in singles last season.
Chattanooga is 7-7 all-time against the Tigers. The series dates back to 1980 with the last meeting coming in 2014.
