Tennessee Match Rescheduled for Sunday at McCallie

Mocs host UAB and Tennessee this weekend.

Weather threw a wrench in many travel plans across the south last weekend, including the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team.  The Mocs were supposed to visit Tennessee on Sunday, Jan. 24, but that match was postponed due to the snowstorms in the region.

The rescheduled date brings the Volunteers down to Chattanooga for a dual on Sunday, Jan. 31.  First serve against UT is set for 6:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the McCallie School's Strang-Voges Tennis Center.

The Mocs almost pulled off the upset last season, falling 4-3 to the Vols in Knoxville.  Tennessee is 0-1 on the year after a 4-3 loss to Wake Forest in the spring opener on Jan. 23.  The Vols host a doubleheader on Jan. 30 against UT Martin and Western Michigan before visiting the Scenic City.

The Mocs are 3-7 all-time against Tennessee, including a 7-0 loss in 2014.  The previous eight matches in the series took place from 1977-84.  This is the first visit by Tennessee to Chattanooga since 1983.

The Vols will play a neutral match against Lipscomb on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at McCallie.  The makeup date for the Mocs' dual against the Bison is still to be determined.

Chattanooga also hosts UAB this weekend.  The Mocs welcome the Blazers on Saturday, Jan. 30 for a 6:00 p.m. match at McCallie.  The Blazers are 0-1 following a 7-0 season-opening loss at Auburn.

UTC is 9-10 all-time against the Blazers, including three-straight wins.  Chattanooga snapped a six-match skid in the series with a 5-1 win in 2013 and made it two in a row with a 6-1 victory in 2014.  Chattanooga won 6-1 last year in Birmingham.

UTC is 0-1 overall this spring, losing its season opener at Memphis.

Live scoring is available for both matches this week.  Check the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com for a link.
