The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team will conclude its three-match homestand with a pair of SoCon matches against The Citadel and Mercer on Friday and Saturday, respectively, inside Maclellan Gym with both matches starting at 6 p.m.

The Mocs are coming off a 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-19) home loss to Samford on Wednesday and fell to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in Southern Conference play. It was the first conference home loss for UTC since Nov. 15, 2014.

The Citadel enters the match with an 8-16 overall record and a 1-7 record in SoCon play. The Bulldogs earned a 3-2 victory over Furman on Oct. 16, and notched its first SoCon win since 2011 as well as its first win over Furman in program history.

The Bulldogs are under direction of second year head coach Craig Mosqueda. In his first season, Mosqueda guided The Citadel to multiple program records as they set new single-season records in total team kills, total team assists and total team digs. He hired assistant Stevi Robinson, who boasts experience with the United States National Team.

The offense is led by Moriah Smith as she leads the SoCon with 348 kills and is followed by Megan Sowell who has registered 207. Setter Logan Smith carries a 6.84 assists per set average by totaling 602 assists in 88 sets this year. Samantha Espy leads the team in digs with 370 and was recently named the SoCon weekly Student-Athlete of the Week.

Mercer currently holds a 12-8 overall mark and a 4-4 record in the Southern Conference. The Bears will travel to Johnson City, Tenn., to face ETSU on Friday before making the trip on Saturday to face UTC. They have claimed consecutive conference wins over Furman and The Citadel in their last two matches.

The Bears are led by head coach Damian Elder who enters his fifth season directing the volleyball program. Mercer has already solidified its most winning season since the 2011 campaign and coach Elder has notched the most wins in a season thus far during his tenure with the Bears.

Morgan MacGilvary leads the way on offense with 255 kills on a 3.23 kills per set average, ranking her sixth in the conference. Hannah Noon directs the offense with 403 assists as Claire Waliczek follows closely behind with 369. Tori Penrod ranks second in the SoCon with a 5.00 digs per set average on defense while Paige Alsten leads the team at the net with 61.0 total blocks this season.
