Johnson, Carr Lead Mocs at the Lindenwood Open

UTC wins two individual titles at the Joe Parisi Lindenwood Open.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team had a pair of individual champions at the Joe Parisi Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, Mo., today.  Senior Jared Johnson and junior Bryce Carr won the heavyweight and 184 open brackets, respectively.

Johnson dominated the competition early in the day, posting pins in his first four matches.  He won the event with a 9-7 decision over Central Oklahoma's Caleb Cotter.

Carr won four matches on his way to the 184 title.  He posted a pair of pins early and defeated Oklahoma's Matt Reed (5-1) in the finals.

Sophomore Jake Huffine made up a group of three other Mocs who placed at the Tournament.  He was fourth at 141 in the freshman-sophomore bracket.  Sophomore Alonzo Allen was sixth at 125 and senior Sean Mappes was fourth at 174 in the open draws.  Mappes lost to No. 7 Zach Brinson in the third palce match.

Freshman Dylanger Potter continued his hot start to his career with a second place showing at 149.  He opened with three pins in a row before defeating Lindenwood's Ronald Gentile (9-3) in the finals.

Next up for the Mocs is a home dual against Virginia on Dec. 4.  Match time is 2:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Maclellan Gym and tickets are available now on GoMocs.com.
