No. 24 Mocs Host Virginia on Sunday at Maclellan Gym

UTC enters the match with a 2-1 overall record.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team's marquee non-conference match is Sunday, Dec. 4, against Virginia.  The 24th-ranked Mocs (2-1, 1-0 SoCon) welcome the Cavaliers (2-2, 0-0 ACC) to Maclellan Gym for a 2:00 p.m. contest.

This is a rematch of one of the most exciting comebacks in Chattanooga wrestling history.  Virginia held a No. 19 national ranking and an 18-7 lead with three matches left in the dual in Charlottesville, on Feb. 14, 2016.  Chattanooga ran off three-straight wins, including a pin by Jared Johnson at heavyweight, to stun the home crowd with a 19-18 victory.  It was the first win in four tries for the Mocs over Virginia.

This season, UTC brings a 2-1 record that includes wins over Southeastern (40-12) and VMI (41-5) and a loss to No. 6 Virginia Tech (6-29).  The Cavaliers are 2-2 overall with victories against Maryland (22-13) and Lock Haven (24-16) in a tri-meet on Nov. 20.  The two losses were against No. 11 Michigan (24-9) and 17th-ranked Central Michigan (22-10) to open the year.

MocsVision is providing a live stream of the match and live scoring is available through Trackwrestling.  Links to both are on the wrestling schedule page on GoMocs.com.
