Box Score Dreary weather forced the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis match against Jacksonville State this afternoon. The Mocs were schedule to play a doubleheader with the men at the Champions Club, but wet conditions moved the matches to the indoor courts at Manker Patten.
UTC scored a 6-0 win over the Gamecocks, winning all six singles matches. Since both teams had to get in a dual this afternoon and the team outcome was already clinched, doubles were not contested.
Senior
Kayla Jones, ranked No. 79 in nation in singles, improved to 5-0 in the spring with her (6-2, 6-1) win over Olivia Nguyen.
The Mocs won five matches in straight sets and senior
Katie Polk took a pro set at No. 6. Senior
Alison Storie and
Kelsey Coots and junior
Rachele Gazzola also won today.
The win improves UTC's record to 3-4 overall, its third consecutive victory. Tomorrow's match against Alabama State has been postponed due to the high probability of rain in the Scenic City. The Dalton State match later in the afternoon may also be delayed to a later date.
