Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team battled hard in a 6-1 loss at Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro today.  The Mocs went down-to-the-wire in doubles and lost two, three-set matches in defeat. 

UTC opened with a win at No. 1 doubles.  Seniors Kayla Jones and Kelsey Coots scored a 6-3 victory against Brittany Huxley and Giulia Squadrin to improve to 3-1 on the year.

MTSU took the No. 3 match 7-5 and then won a close one at No. 2 6-4.  That gave the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead heading into singles. 

MTSU went up 3-0 with straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6.  Jones put the Mocs on the board with a three-set win over Darya Shulzhanok at No. 1. 

"Kayla was really strong at the top spot," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "She has played well throughout the start of spring and that showed again today."

Coots, junior Rachele Gazzola and senior Alison Storie were all locked in battles of their own.  All three needed to win to keep the Mocs alive, but MTSU swept the final three points.

"Kelsey Coots played her best match of the season," added Clark.  "Alison and Rachele went toe-to-toe with some really good players, they just all came up a little bit short."
