The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team has two matches on the schedule this week. The Mocs travel to Kennesaw State on Wednesday and host ETSU on Friday.
The Mocs (8-5, 1-0 SoCon) visit the Owls (1-11) for a Noon match on Wednesday, March 23, at the Betty L. Siegel Student Recreation & Activities Center in Kennesaw, Ga.
UTC is looking to add to its 5-0 record against KSU. The Mocs won last year's meeting 7-0 in Chattanooga.
Chattanooga is led by senior
Kayla Jones' 7-2 record at No. 1 singles. Senior
Kelsey Coots has won six in a row overall and has a 5-3 record at No. 2 singles. Sophomore
Samantha Caswell is 8-3 at No. 3, followed by junior
Rachele Gazzola who is 6-4 at No. 4.
The bottom of the lineup is anchored by a pair of seniors.
Alison Storie is 7-2 at No. 5 while
Katie Polk is undefeated in the spring, including a 6-0 mark at No. 6.
Coots and Jones make up the top doubles tandem with a 10-2 mark at No. 1.
UTC returns to Southern Conference action with the ETSU match on Friday. First serve is set for Noon at the Champions Club. The Bucs have an impressive 14-1 overall record, including a 3-0 mark in league play.
Chattanooga split matches with ETSU last season, winning 4-3 in the regular season but losing 4-2 in the SoCon Tournament. The Mocs hold an 18-4 advantage in the all-time series with ETSU.
