Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a nice 5-2 win at Samford today.  The Mocs snapped a three-match slide against the Bulldogs to improve to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in Southern Conference action. 

"It was a hard fought road win for us today," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "I was proud of the way we battled up and down the lineup."

One of those battles took place early in a hotly contested doubles point.  All three matches went to extra frames, beginning with seniors Kelsey Coots and Kayla Jones defeating Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt (7-5) at No. 1.  It was the fifth win in a row for UTC's top pair, who improved to 16-3 in spring action. 

Samford took the No. 3 match and was poised to win the point, up 5-2 at No. 2.  However, senior Katie Polk and sophomore Samantha Caswell stepped up and won five straight games against Annika Hepp and Ellie Gerlach to take the win and the 1-0 lead. 

The Mocs kept that momentum going by winning the opening set in five of the six singles matches.  Coots, Caswell, Polk and senior Alison Storie all won in straight sets today. 

Today's win wrapped up the No. 3 seed at next week's SoCon Tournament for the Mocs.  Chattanooga hosts the event at the Champions Club on April 22-24.  UTC opens against UNCG on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
