Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team earned a 6-1 conference victory over the visiting Wofford Terriers on Senior Day at the Champions Club.
 
The Mocs improve their record to 11-6 overall with a 3-1 mark in league play, while the Terriers fall to 9-6 and 1-3 in the conference.
 
Prior to the match, head coach Jeff Clark honored seniors Kayla Jones, Kelsey Coots, Katie Polk and Alison Storie.
 
"These four seniors have been really good from the beginning and have gotten better over their careers," Clark said. "A large part of our success over the past four seasons has been because of their efforts. I was very proud that all four of the seniors won today."
 
The Mocs began Senior Day with a win in doubles play for a 1-0 advantage heading into the singles.
 
Wofford's Lauren Reid and Samantha Russell defeated Samantha Caswell and Catie Polk 6-1, but the Mocs took the next two matches to earn the doubles win. Kayla Jones and Kelsey Coots defeated Wofford's Cassidy Hicks and Kalli Karas 6-4, followed by another victory by Rachele Gazzola and Alison Storie over the Terriers'' Taylor Carlson and Catherine Martin.
 
"No.3 doubles came up big," Clark said. "They were down 3-1 at the break and won five out of the last six games to take the match. I'm really proud of Rachel and Allie on getting the win there."
 
In singles play, Kayla Jones gave the Mocs their second team point with a 6-1, 6-1 over Wofford's Catherine Martin. Wins by Samantha Caswell (7-5, 6-2) at No. 3 and Katie Polk (7-5, 6-0) at No. 6 singles clinched the match for UTC.
 
Alison Storie defeated Wofford's Samantha Russell 7-5, 6-4 at No.5, and at No. 2, Kelsey Coots dropped her first set, but rallied back in the next two sets to win her match over Wofford's Cassidy Hicks (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
 
Chattanooga returns to action April 5 for a non-conference matchup against Alabama State. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Champions Club and live scoring can be viewed at GoMocs.com.
