Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team lost a 4-1 match to Memphis in Murfreesboro, Tenn., today.  Sophomore Caroline Hall posted the lone win in singles action for the Mocs this afternoon. 

"I felt like we just came out real stale and that cost us the match," stated UTC head coach Chad Camper.  "I think we were real flat, but we learned a lot about bringing a certain amount of professionalism and a certain standard every match.  Just can't show up against a team like Memphis."

Senior Rachele Gazzola and junior Samantha Caswell were up 3-1 at No. 1 doubles when the Tigers clinched the point.  Memphis won the other two doubles by a score of 6-2 in each. 

Hall improved to 3-1 in the spring and 11-3 overall with her (6-3, 6-1) win over Marta Morga at No. 4.  Sophomores Sydney Patton and Mckenzie Barco were both up a set in their matches when Memphis clinched the match. 

Caswell dropped a tough three-setter to Anki Wind, who is ranked No. 91 in the ITA national rankings.  She lost 6-4 in the first, but forced a superbreaker with a 6-1 win in the second set.  She dropped that 10-point frame 10-5. 

"I was very proud of Caroline's win," added Camper.  "She beat a very good player and Sydney Patton played great tennis at No. 3.  Even Samantha had a great shot a beating another ranked player." 

Today's loss dropped Chattanooga to 3-2 in the spring, while Memphis remains undefeated at 3-0.  Up next for the Mocs is a trip to Nashville next weekend for matches against Belmont and Lipscomb on Friday and Saturday.  The next home match is Feb. 10 against Brenau at McCallie.
