Mocs Host ETSU in 'White Out' Match on Wednesday

Chattanooga volleyball will welcome in-state rival ETSU for a key SoCon match on Wednesday night. Admission is FREE and all fans will receive FREE ‘White Out’ t-shirts.

CHATTANOOGA --- After notching a pair of Homecoming weekend wins, the Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team gets set to host in-state rival ETSU on Wednesday night in Maclellan Gymnasium as part of their annual 'White-Out' match.
 
First serve is set for 6 p.m. Admission is FREE and all fans in attendance will receive FREE 'White-Out' t-shirts. The match will be streamed LIVE on the SoCon Digital Network. (Link)
 
Both teams will enter Wednesday's match red-hot as the Mocs are winners of four of their last five matches while the Bucs have won three-straight. Chattanooga and ETSU are part of a three-way tie with Wofford for second place in the Southern Conference standings at 4-2. The Mocs are 11-9 overall while the Bucs carry an 8-9 record.
 
Chattanooga defeated Samford in four sets (24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19) on Friday night before sweeping Mercer (25-23, 25-14, 25-18) on Saturday, trailing only twice in the entire match against the Bears.
 
The Mocs used a balanced attack all weekend long, combining for 106 kills at an impressive .253 hitting percentage over the seven total sets. They held the opposition to 77 kills at a .139 percentage while also winning the blocking battle 13.0 to 12.0.
 
Ally Ford (31) and Miranda Elpers (29) combined for 60 kills at a .259 percentage while also adding up 50 digs and 5.0 blocks over the weekend. Lauren Greenspoon directed the offense by dishing out 86 assists in seven sets, a 12.29 per set average. Dani Szczepanski finished with 20 kills at .341 up the middle and also added a team-high 5.0 blocks. Emily Plumlee and Eden Murray combined for 21 kills and 9.0 blocks in the two wins.
 
Defensively, six different Mocs posted at least a block while five different Mocs totaled over 20 digs for the weekend. Megan Kaufman finished with a weekend-high of 37 digs while Elpers followed with 29 and Ford with 21. Bailey Clemons added 20 digs, ten in each match. Szczepanski and Murray finished with 5.0 total blocks, which were team-highs, while Plumlee and Ford followed with 4.0.
 
Chattanooga will head to Spartanburg, S.C., for a Saturday 2 p.m. match at Wofford before having a week off to prepare for a road trip to Western Carolina and UNCG the following weekend.

ETSU, the defending Southern Conference regular season champs and preseason favorites, is currently on a three-match win streak as they notched wins over The Citadel, Mercer and Samford. The Bucs have dropped SoCon matches against UNCG and Furman. ETSU has notable non-conference wins over Virginia and Virginia Tech while also playing a schedule that included Arizona, Lipscomb, Wichita State, Western Kentucky and Pittsburgh, all teams that were in the AVCA Top 25 or have at least received votes.
 
Rylee Milhorn and A.J. Lux lead the ETSU offense as Milhorn ranks eighth in the SoCon with a 3.41 kills per set average while Lux sits ninth with a .253 attacking percentage on 451 attacks. Braedyn Tutton ranks third in the conference with a 1.00 blocks per set average this season. ETSU leads the conference in blocks per set as a team with a 2.20 average.
