CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team is set to return to Maclellan Gymnasium this weekend with a Friday night match against SoCon leading Furman and a Saturday afternoon match against The Citadel.
 
Chattanooga recently concluded a three-match road trip with a 1-2 record, falling in five-sets to Wofford and UNCG while notching a sweep against Western Carolina. The Mocs now sit at 12-12 overall, 5-5 in the SoCon, and are looking to make a strong push down the final stretch of the season.
 
"It will be great to be back home this weekend for these two matches and what they stand for are always two of my most favorite moments in the fall," said head coach Travis Filar.

Friday's Bone Marrow Donation Awareness match against Furman is set for 6 p.m. and fans in attendance will have the chance to gather information on how to register to become a possible donor. The Paladins enter the match with an unbeaten 9-0 mark in conference play.
 
"This will be the sixth annual Bone Marrow Donation Awareness match that we have done and it is always a special night to raise awareness about donating bone marrow towards helping people with forms of blood cancer, in addition to, honoring those who have won and lost their fights with these specific forms of cancer," added Filar.
 
Chattanooga will then meet The Citadel on Saturday at 3 p.m. for 'Senior Day' as the Mocs will honor the triplet of seniors in Madison Bergren, Lauren Greenspoon and Maddie Marshall.
 
"To have the chance to celebrate our seniors, their careers here at Chattanooga, all that they have given to our program and the university, is a memory I always love," said Filar. "I am so grateful of Lauren, Madison, and Maddie for the impact they all have had on me as a person and on their teammates."
 
The trio of seniors have led UTC to their most successful stretch as a program in nearly twenty seasons. They have combined for 57 overall wins and an impressive .667 win percentage in the Southern Conference. In addition, they helped the Mocs earn their first regular season SoCon title since 1998 by finishing with 13 conference wins in 2015, the third-most SoCon wins in program history.
 
"I know our team is very prepared to honor them by finishing out our conference season well with the hopes of playing our most consistent volleyball these last few weeks of the regular season," Filar added.

Furman enters Maclellan unblemished in SoCon play as they have amassed a perfect 9-0 start. With a 6-7 overall record after the non-conference section of the schedule, the Paladins have rattled off nine-straight wins, dropping only five sets during that span.
 
Furman leads the SoCon in efficiency with a .214 team hitting percentage as freshman Courtney Hoffman ranks fifth and leads the team with a .313 percentage. Jamila Johnson ranks fourth in the conference with a 4.04 kills per set average and 331 total digs.

The Bulldogs have dropped their last two matches after earning their first ever program win over Mercer on Oct. 20. The Citadel will play ETSU in Johnson City before heading to Chattanooga on Saturday. The Mocs won the previous meeting this season in Charleston, 3-1, on Sept. 29.
 
Sophomore Sarah Dobrich ranks 2nd in the SoCon with a 1.03 blocks per set average while freshman Sharlissa De Jesus sits 8th with a 3.44 kills per set mark. The Bulldogs lead the conference with a 1.49 aces per set average as a team.
