Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team posted a 7-0 win over Brenau at McCallie's Strang-Voges Tennis Center tonight.  The Mocs improved to 6-2 with the victory at Tigers, who are currently ranked No. 4 in the NAIA. 

The match opened with and eight-game pro set in doubles.  Chattanooga took the first one when sophomores Caroline Hall at Sydney Patton teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 3. 

UTC clinched the opening point when senior Rachele Gazzola and junior Samantha won 8-5 at No. 1. Brenau won in a tiebreaker at No. 2.

"I thought we came out with some good intensity," stated head coach Chad Camper.  "I thought they were really good in dubs.  In NAIA, every doubles match counts.  I told the team this would be a good experience.  We played eight-game pro-set to work on some dubs for both teams.

"Second doubles didn't fall the way we wanted.  We got down early but it showed us where we need to improve." 

Sophomore McKenzie Barco breezed through her match with dropping a game at No. 6.  Patton followed with a (6-1, 6-1) win of her own at No. 4.  She improved to 6-0 in spring singles action.

Gazzola clinched the team win at No. 5, followed by sophomore Delaney Edwards' victory at No. 2.  Hall made it 6-0 with her fifth consecutive win at No. 3.

The only match to go into a third set was at No. 1.  Junior Samantha Caswell battled back after dropping the first set to win the second and force a 10-point tiebreaker.  She won that 10-6.

"I thought singles was good in a lot of spots" added Camper.  "For Samantha to come back after losing in the first set is really good. 

"It has been a long season already and I thought the girls did a great job of coming out and taking care of business before a weekend off. "

Up next for the Mocs is a trip to Atlanta next weekend to take on Georgia Tech.  Match time is 11:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday, Feb. 18.  The next home event is a Presidents' Day matchup against Murray State on Monday, Feb. 20.  Match time is 5:00 p.m. at McCallie's Strang-Voges Tennis Center.
