Ranked Opponent & Regional Rival Highlight Upcoming Matches

UTC travels to No. 13 Georgia Tech Saturday, hosts Murray State Monday.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team has two matches on the schedule over the upcoming President's Day weekend.  The Mocs travel to No. 13 Georgia Tech on Saturday and host Murray State on Monday.

The match against the Yellow Jackets is 11:00 a.m. (E.S.T.) in Atlanta, Ga.  Georgia Tech is 6-2 overall with wins against Portland, Oregon, Penn, UCLA, Tennessee and Ole Miss.  The only losses came against No. 9 Cal and No. 11 Auburn.

The Mocs are 1-6 all-time against the Ramblin' Wreck, with the lone win coming in 1984.  This is the first meeting in the series since 2010.

"We know we are playing the toughest team on our schedule with No. 13 Georgia Tech," stated head coach Chad Camper. "I tell the team it is good for us to see the top level of college tennis. There are many similarities between us and them and it is important for us to be ready to compete and come out with several game plans."

Monday's match against the Racers is 5:00 p.m. at Baylor's Guerry Tennis Center.  Murray State is 2-3 with wins over Arkansas State and Southern Illinois.  Their losses are against Louisville, Evansville and Central Arkansas.  MSU faces ETSU on Sunday prior to the match in Chattanooga.

UTC is 7-3 in the all-time series with Murray State.  The Mocs won three-straight from 2012-14, which is the last time these two teams met in a dual match.

"We saw Murray State play in the fall and we know they have a lot of depth," stated Camper.  "This team will challenge us in many positions and we need to make sure we bring our best effort. We are preparing for this match as if it is a conference opponent."
