The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team hosts two matches this weekend. The Mocs welcome Western Kentucky on Friday and Southern Conference foe Furman on Sunday.
The match against the Hilltoppers is March 31 at the Maker Patten Indoor Courts at 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.). The threat of inclement weather moved the match indoors.
The Paladins match is April 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Baylor School courts. Links for live scoring for both matches are on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
UTC is currently 12-4 overall with a 2-1 record in conference play. The Hilltoppers are 10-4 overall and 1-0 in Conference USA action. The Paladins are 16-5 overall and undefeated in SoCon play with a 3-0 league mark.
"WKU is a very seasoned team that keeps improving every year," stated UTC head coach
Chad Camper. "We will go up against some great players from all over the world. We will have to come out hot from the start and stay positive, there will be little room for errors in this match. This match will be a great warm up for Furman on Sunday."
The Mocs are 6-1 all-time against the Hilltoppers. They lost last year's match on the road 4-2, but won in 2015 4-0. The previous match in the series was back in 2009.
"All season we have seen Furman have a lot of success and we know they are the team to beat to win the conference championship," added Camper. "Both teams know each other well, so it will be important to play our hardest and come together as a team."
The Mocs and Paladins have played to a 4-3 score in each of the last six meetings. Furman won last year's match, and the Mocs won in 2015 to snap a 24-match overall losing streak in the series.
