CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will host Southern Conference foe Western Carolina Saturday, January 6 at the McKenzie Arena in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team.

CHATTANOOGA vs. WESTERN CAROLINA
The Mocs and Catamounts first face off against each other in 1979 prior to the start of women's competition in the Southern Conference. Chattanooga leads the series 73-11 and has won the last 16 meetings. At home UTC is 34-5 against WCU.
 
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs opened Southern Conference play Thursday with a 49-42 win over UNCG. The win was UTC's 51 consecutive Southern Conference home court victory. UTC is 10-5 on the year and 1-0 in league play. Chattanooga holds a narrow 1.7 scoring advantage over its opponents and is averaging 58.7 points per game. From the field, UTC is shooting 41.5 percent and a SoCon-best 39.5 percent from the 3-point line.
 
Aryanna Gilbert leads the Mocs in scoring with 14.2 points per game and is shooting 48.2 percent from the field. She has a team-best 44 assists and 17 steals. Lakelyn Bouldin leads the Mocs from the 3-point line with 32 long rangers and is shooting 87.8 percent from the charity stripe. Keiana Gilbert has a team-best 5.7 rebounds per game and 16 blocked shots and is third on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game.
 
ABOUT WESTERN CAROLINA
The Catamounts are 3-12 on the year after falling to ETSU 66-50 in the SoCon opener for both teams. ­­WCU has lost five of its last six games and 11 of its last 13. The Catamounts are outscored by their opponents 8.6 points per game and are averaging 56.5. WCU is shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 28.2 percent from the 3-point line. On the boards, Western is pulling down 36.6 rebounds per game and averages 6.7 steals per game.
 
Sherae Bonner is the only Catamount in double figures with 11.0 points and a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game. She has 19 blocked shots, nine steals and 16 assists. She is shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. Kyia Hough is shooting 46.2 percent from the field and is averaging 8.8 points per game. Lauren LaPlant is 15-of-57 from the 3-point line and is scoring 8.8 points per game.
