CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs got the season started the right way Tuesday night with an 80-69 win at Charlotte. Now it's time for the home opener. The Mocs host Eastern Kentucky Saturday night at 7 p.m., in McKenzie Arena.

The Mocs 11-point triumph Tuesday night had historical undertones. It was the third-largest margin of victory in a season opener ON THE ROAD behind 13 at Tennessee (82-69) on Nov. 11, 2016 and 12 at Mississippi State (85-73) on Nov. 22, 1991. You can

EKU got their campaign underway Wednesday night with Marshall coming to Richmond. The Herd claimed a 105-77 in a game that featured 156 combined shots, 50 from beyond the arc. The Colonels were led by three-time All-OVC performer Nick Mayo's 26-point, 15-rebound effort.

- The Mocs are 36-5 (.878) in home openers in the DI era (beginning 1977-78) winning the last five.
- Donovann Toatley's 17 points Tuesday night against the 49ers is the most points in a season opener by a freshman in school history.
- This is the first of four contests against Ohio Valley Conference schools this season. The second matchup is next weekend in Mobile, Ala., against Southeast Missouri with December meetings against Tennessee Tech (12/1) and at UT Martin (12/18).
