Women's Basketball Anne Wehunt

Gameday: Mocs vs. Maine at Fordham Holiday Classic

The Chattanooga women's basketball team will take part in its second tournament this season. UTC fell to Middle Tennessee on the first day of the Fordham Holiday Classic and will face Maine in the consolation game.

MOCS vs. MAINE
This will be the second meeting between the two programs with both in tournament formats. Maine defeated UTC 49-39 in the Naismith Basketball Memorial Classic in Springfield, Mass., in 2016.
 
CHATTANOOGA (4-10)
Probable starters: Arianne Whitaker, F, 6-2, RJr.; Molly Melton, G, 5-4, Sr.; Shelbie Davenport, G/F, 6-0, RSr.; Brooke Burns, G, 5-10, So.; Lakelyn Bouldin, G., 5-8, Jr.
 
Offense: Lakelyn Bouldin is the Mocs' returning leading scorer and continues that trend averaging 12.2 points per game. She is UTC's top 3-point shooter and near perfect from the free throw line. Five different players have led the Mocs in scoring. Whitaker averages a team-high .465 from the field.
 
Defense: Freshman Eboni Williams leads the Mocs in rebounding with 60 on the year, averaging 4.3 per game. She has a team-high 3.4 defensive boards while fellow freshman Abbey Williams has a UTC-best 1.2 offensive rebounds per game. Molly Melton leads the Mocs with 2.2 steals per game despite missing three this season. Arianne Whitaker has a team-high 17 blocked shots through 11 games played.
 
Head coach Katie Burrows is in her first season leading Chattanooga. She was an assistant for UTC for eight seasons and helped lead UTC to four consecutive SoCon regular season and tournament titles as a player at Chattanooga from 2001-04.
 
MAINE (7-5)
Probable starters: Maeve Carroll, F, 5-11, So.; Parise Rossignol, G, 5-8, Sr.; Dor Saar, G, 5-6, So.; Blanca Millan, G, 6-1, Jr.; Tanesha Sutton, G, 5-10, RSr.
 
Offense: Bianca Millan leads three teammates in double figures with 17.9 points per game. She has a team-high 27 3-pointers along with 29 assists. Tanesha Sutton is second on the team in scoring with 13.7 points and Fanny Wadling is the team's third best shooter but has only seen action in three games. Dor Saar has a team-best 62 assists compared to just 27 turnovers. She has 20 3-pointers and is shooting 91 percent from the free throw line. 
 
Defense: Maine lead rebounder, Wadling, has played in just three games. Tanesha Sutton is second on the team with 7.2 per game. Bianca Millan has a team-best 34 steals and 17 blocked shots. Maine opponents outrebound the Black Bears by nearly nine boards per game.

Head coach Amy Vachon is officially in her second year as head coach after spending time as the interim head coach. She was named the America East Coach of the Year for the 2017-18 season and led the Black Bears to the America East regular season and tournament title, earning the NCAA automatic bid. She was inducted into the 2018 UMaine Hall of Fame and is a 2016 Inductee into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame.
