The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team is on the road this weekend for a pair of non-conference matches in South Carolina. The Mocs travel to Presbyterian on Saturday, Feb. 17, followed by a Sunday dual at Clemson.
The Mocs are 4-1 overall, after Sunday's 6-1 win over UT-Martin at Manker-Patten. This is the first of four matches on the road for Chattanooga.
The Blue Hose are currently 3-4, including a 4-3 loss to SoCon foe Wofford on Wednesday. Match time is set for 1:30 p.m. (E.S.T.) on Saturday in Clinton, S.C. This is the first time UTC has faced Presbyterian in women's tennis.
Sunday's bout at Clemson is the second of a double-header for the Tigers. Clemson faces Wake Forest at 11:00 a.m., before taking on the Mocs at 4:00 p.m. The Tigers have a 3-3 mark in spring action. A link for live scoring for this match is available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
The Mocs are 1-3 all-time against Clemson. The lone win was during UTC's AIAW National Championship season when the Mocs posted a 9-0 victory on Feb. 2, 1979, in Nashville, Tenn. This is the first meeting between these two teams since 2003. The other two matches were played in 1980.
"We are excited to play outside this weekend," stated head coach
Chad Camper. "Spring is around the corner and we need some matches under our belts. Presbyterian is a very talented team and we are still finding our identity. Clemson will be a challenge, but we know these kinds of matches make us tougher."
