Box Score The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored a 6-1 win at Austin Peay today. The Mocs won the doubles point and five of six singles to improve to 3-1 in the spring.
Austin Peay only had five available players, to the Mocs opened with a win at No. 3 doubles by forfeit. The Governors won the No. 1 match, but junior
Delaney Edwards and freshman
Emma Van Hee secured the point with a 6-2 win at No. 2.
UTC fell behind with first set losses in three of the five contested singles matches. Edwards and freshman
Bogdana Zaporozhets were able to battle back for three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Juniors
Caroline Hall and
Tamri Chalaganidze also won in singles action.
"The team dropped some of their excitement when we found out they only five players," stated head coach
Chad Camper. We got down in most of the first sets and had to battle back to pull out a win. We learned a lesson from a very determined APSU team."
Up next for the Mocs is a trip to USC Upstate next Saturday, Feb. 10. The Mocs are back at home on Sunday, Feb. 11, against UT-Martin at 4:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at Manker-Patten.
