Mocs Head to Samford for Saturday Tangle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will continue its first Southern Conference road trip of the season Saturday with a tangle at Samford at the Pete Hanna Center.

MOCS vs. BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs became a member of the Southern Conference in 2008. UTC leads the all-time series 22-7 and is 17-1 against Samford in league play. The Mocs have won the last six meetings including an overtime matchup at the Roundhouse last season. In Birmingham, UTC is 8-5. The Mocs last loss to Samford was Jan. 23, 2016 by a 48-43 margin in Birmingham.
 
CHATTANOOGA
The Mocs dropped their first Southern Conference game of the season with a 65-58 loss at Mercer Thursday and fall to 8-11 overall and 3-1 in league play.
 
Chattanooga averages 61.9 points per game, is shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from the 3-point line. Lakelyn Bouldin leads the Mocs in scoring with 12.4 points per game and freshman Eboni Williams is second on the team in points with 8.3 per game. Williams is the Mocs top rebounder with 5.4 boards per game. Arianne Whitaker had a season-best six rejections against the Bears and leads the league with 1.8 per game.
 
SAMFORD
The Bulldogs shot nearly 57 percent and made 9-of-21 from the 3-point line in their win over ETSU to move to 2-2 in Southern Conference action and 7-12 overall. Samford is averaging 60.1 points and 29.9 rebounds per game. The Bulldogs are shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from long range and 70.8 percent from the free throw line. They lead the league from the 3-point line with 7.4 per game. Natalie Armstrong leads the team with 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. Ta'Naisha Hill and Paige Serup each have 8.3 points per game and have combined for 53 from the 3-point line. Armstrong has a team-bests 19 blocked shots and Charity Brown has 85 assists.
