The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team is on the road for a pair of matches in Troy, Ala., this weekend.  The Mocs take on Alabama A&M on Saturday, Feb. 2, and Troy on Sunday, Feb. 3. 

First serve against the Trojans is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.  Sunday's match against the Trojans starts at Noon. 

"The team is playing at a high level and look forward to the continued competition," stated head coach Chad Camper. "Both teams will give us challenges and we are excited about the opportunity to improve." 

Chattanooga is 0-2 on the year, including a 6-1 loss to Mississippi State and a tight 4-3 setback to Austin Peay.  Freshman Polina Goloputova leads the team with an 8-4 mark in singles.  She is looking for her first win of the spring and has played at No. 1 in both matches.

Senior Delaney Edwards and sophomore Emma Van Hee are the top doubles tandem with a 1-1 mark at No. 1 in the spring.  They are 3-1 overall.

This is the first spring action for Troy, who finished last season with a 9-11 record and a 4-2 mark in the Sun Belt.  They advanced to the semifinals of the SBC tournament as the No. 1 seed.  Troy won the only other match between these two teams with a 4-3 victory on Feb. 15, 2004, in Troy, Ala.

Alabama A&M is 0-4 overall, with losses to Auburn (0-7), Central Arkansas (0-7), Mercer (0-7) and Alabama (0-7).  This is also the second meeting in the series with the Bulldogs.  UTC won the other match, 7-0 on March 1, 2006, in Chattanooga.
