The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team hits the road for the last time in the 2019 regular season this weekend. The Mocs travel to ETSU on Saturday, March 30, followed by a Sunday match at Mercer on March 31.
Chattanooga's dual against the Buccaneers is 11:00 a.m. (E.D.T.) at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex in Johnson City, Tenn. Sunday's action against the Bears starts at 2:00 p.m. at the Leroy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga. If there is live scoring for either match, links will be posted on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
"The team is having a good week of practice," stated UTC head coach
Chad Camper. "Another two conference matches on the road will be difficult, but this team knows how to get tough when it matters."
The Mocs are 7-7 overall and trying to snap a five match slide. Senior
Caroline Hall and sophomore Emma van Hee lead the team with 9-5 marks in singles in the spring. Hall is 5-1 at No. 3 and 4-4 at No. 4, while van Hee carries an 8-5 mark at No. 5. Van Hee teams with senior
Delaney Edwards at No. 1 doubles where they are 7-5 in the spring.
ETSU is 7-8 overall and 2-0 in conference action. The Bucs host MTSU on Friday before welcoming the Mocs on Saturday. Chattanooga is 27-8 in the all-time series that began in 1981. ETSU has won four of the last five, but UTC took last year's match 4-3 on March 3 in Chattanooga.
Mercer is 10-8 overall and 2-1 in SoCon action. The Bears travel to Furman on Friday before returning home to host the Mocs on Sunday. UTC holds an 11-1 mark against Mercer all-time. The only win for the Bears was a 5-2 victory in Macon on April 9, 2006.
